Part of Fountains Abbey, will be posting quite a few shots of this place as we really enjoyed it, even on a cold grey day it was a beautiful place to visit and well worth the admission, which after joining the National Trust was refunded and told i got free parking in the Lakes lol, us Yorkshire folk know a bargain when we hear one.:)

I love Fountains Abbey. I'm going to be working for the National Trust for the next 6 months or so...trying to get people to join! This is a great picture. I took one years ago from the other end!
tim hitchins: cheers Bill and good on you mate, really is a brilliant place and am looking forward to visiting many more National Trust places, have a good night
Gorgeous image, tim. Love the soft tones, and fancy you having that all to yourself! (:o)
tim hitchins: lol, not quite Rosalyn, few peeps zapped with the clone, but i think i would have had to wait all day to get that place to me self cheers
I like just the hint of colour in the arches Tim, and the composition which leads the eye direct to the window slap bang on the thirds. Great sguff.
tim hitchins: cheers Brian, i really had no idea this was there as i probable would have taken the tripod to try some longer exposures but i am well happy with this most appreciated m8
I've gota very similar image as this but taken with the centre pillars to my left! It is difficukt t ocatch this without otehr people intruding but you've done well.
tim hitchins: cheers Alan yes it is a fabulous place to try the camera out, wish i could have spent more time in there

I remember Fountains Abbey, especially its seclusion in the midst of a wonderful green landscape, you can still feel the breath of its great history looking at the arches and the pillars and the sandy ground! The pureness and permanent beauty of the Gothic architectural forms -without any distracting elements- has been captured well. Always fascinating is the great exemplary work of the National Trust!
tim hitchins: wow thanks for the words Philine, really can't believe your not English with such a command of the languish
Classic shot Tim and beautifully controlled exposure - a challenge with bright windows and a dark interior.
tim hitchins: cheers Ron most appreciated i would have liked to spend more time in there but it was bloody freezing and my young en was moaning as she does, but i was well pleased with the outcome
