went for a late night walk along the Leeds/Liverpool canal, son and dog in tow as this part of the canal is somewhere you don't wont to be on your own to see what we could come up with, this was the result

yes, very cold night too. We found a few ok picture chances, but this beauty was waiting just round the corner.
Perfect picture.
tim hitchins: cheers son
..and 4 or 5 minders, I would have though! What a great title and a fine image. Something I would not have considered shooting (mind you, I don't have a dog or a son to look after me!).
tim hitchins: lol, yes its not the best of places after dark, someone did stagger up the path towards us i dont know who was the most apprehensive us or him
Superb night shot. A perfect composition for me. Well done Tim!
tim hitchins: most appreciated Richard and have a good day
You make a stretch of urban canal into something magical. Love it.
tim hitchins: really happy you thought that m8
It's just beautiful !!! And your title suits very well with the shot !!! In my likeys ...
tim hitchins: well i am so glad you liked it that much Ann, really makes the effort worthwhile, have a nice day Ann
This is another goodun Tim. Nice composition with the towpath leading you into the picture. The puddles add an extra and the colour is great. Well done sir!!
tim hitchins: cheers Bill and have a nice day m8, no snow but its still cold.
great atmosphere- rather like the lighting in some of Jim Jarmusch's early films- my sister was equally impressed, she said, with the perfect spiral composition.
tim hitchins: thank you so much jamoula really happy you and your sister were impressed with the image, would have been easy to stay in and watch the tv on a cold night, but im glad i made the effort, cheers
I think you do your best work at night Tim
tim hitchins: ha, probs cause i don't get much time through the day
It looks very, very nice, and not a hint of danger either.
tim hitchins: cheers Ellie, no danger that night thankfully its a little further round the corner were the druggies and down and outs hang out, so we turned round after this
What a well controlled exposure Tim. It looks as though it would have been a real challenge. As it is, for me it has a sombre, almost ominous feel to it which matches the isolation and industrial architecture.
tim hitchins: most appreciated Ron, yes i didn't know whether to convert this to give it more atmosphere but we were attracted by the lights so i went for the bright look
A very impressive night-shot- I like the quiet, warm atmosphere, caused by the many lights, the warm light-circles of the lamps, the reflections of the lights in the canal and the snow- puddles, but nevertheless I won't walk alone along this way in the night...
tim hitchins: no you definitely wouldn't want to walk this way on your own at night Philine, but i love your comment as always most valued
I love the lighting
tim hitchins: thank you alicialee, most appreciated
Nice composition,well done Tim.
tim hitchins: cheers emross and thanks for the visit
At 50s, Tim, you must have had a patient son and dog!
tim hitchins: ha yes your not kidding, its surprising how long 50s seems to be when your just waiting for the click
Tim I really like this shot you have captured it very well. My night shots have been deleted
I must take the time to practice more. Great shot
tim hitchins: glad to have you back Tracy with your valued comments, deleted oh dear yes you must but not on your own
Great picture and especially the O-shape with the reflection.
The son will bite them and the dog will throw stones at them
tim hitchins: most appreciated Louis, my dog probably would as she was running away
That golden light is beautiful.
tim hitchins: yes considering were it is, the lights have made it look quite nice
OUTSTANDING, this is great, I would have brought a dog too is I would have been here....thank you for sharing!!
tim hitchins: really happy you should think that Astrid would have been easy to stay in and watch tv, glad we didn't
Nice shot this Tim, and the lights have given a not unatractive cast in the bright areas.
I love the sickly fluorescent colours - it gives a rather sinister atmosphere to the shot.
Ingrid
Beautiful capture, Tim! I love night photography and the reflections in this one are awesome...
tim hitchins: good as i seem to do lots of it
Tim, this has to be one of my favourite photos. It looks beautiful and surreal reminding me of a movie set.
tim hitchins: well thank you so much Mark, it amazing how a long shutter speed can transform a scene from one of been dark and uninspiring to this wonderful blaze of color
