Saltburn Pier.

on a balmy summers day with the mercury maxing at 12 degrees, left the sun tan lotion in the car lol
That's a very atmospheric shot: I like the way it recedes into mist
tim hitchins: most appreciated Chris
Good photo how long is this Pier appears to go on for ever
tim hitchins: ha yes it was rather long not sure exactly but it was long
Great angle. Sometimes its worth getting the shoes dirty eh?
tim hitchins: lol well the sand wasn't very dry for sure, thank you friend
Very mysterious Tim. I see someone coming through the mist, oh no I don't it must be my imagination
Great angle
tim hitchins: lol we saw lots of peeps appearing out of the mist it was that dense and cold and miserable lol, daughter refused to get out of the car
The tilted angle is disorientating and the pier seems go on for ever. I like the effect of it receding into the mist. Good image
Ingrid
tim hitchins: ha well im sorry for that Ingrid its just sometimes i feel a wee tilt makes something out of the ordinary and with this i think it works
I really like the way you did this one. Mother Nature surely helped with the mist, but the angle you shot this at is fantastic -- and I like the way my eyes just follow the "path" and it disappears into the mist.
tim hitchins: most appreciated martie yes i think tilting the scene just gives it a more interesting perspective, probable doesn't work all the time but with this i felt it did
drunk again tim?
tim hitchins: lol hic who me
I love the angle and the way it goes on forever into the mist. Excellent Tim
tim hitchins: most appreciated Bill and yes the mist certainly helped with the general feel of the scene.
You woke up the morning after the nite before under this place and you just decided it is the Saltburn Pier? Have you confirmed it later-on?
Great shot of a long misty tunnel ahead, straddled by a 4 legged machine A great shot if I see all that
tim hitchins: lol i have woke up in some strange places Louis but alas not this one
Interesting perspetive, and I like the geometrical look and the reflections during low tide!
tim hitchins: well thank you for your valued thoughts Philine and have a good day
Looks like a miserable day to be out, and the shot captures that feeling perfectly.
tim hitchins: ha oh yes it was miserable Martin, my daughter refused to get out of the car lol.
Lots used to go on under the pier ... so what were you up to ? ;-) ;-)
Whether this was 'before' or 'after' doesn't matter it's a delightfully mistifying image... helped by your angle. richard
tim hitchins: cheers Richard really appreciated, freezing thats what lol, shorts and tea shirt and a whopping 12 degrees, my daughter didn't even want to get out of the car
must have been a hell of a wind to blow the pier over like that Tim!...;D
cool shot. mal
tim hitchins: lol cheers Mal
This shot is lovely in the mist, but the angle is weird. I can here purists saying rotate, rotate, rotate. With a slope like that it is obvious why there is a big puddle of water at one side and just wet sand the other! LOL
tim hitchins: lol thats so funny and well observed Sheila, but let the purists shout rotate i wont listen lol, i just think this turns the ordinary into something cool
Great perspective shot Tim. I like the angle and the atmosphere!
tim hitchins: thank you so much Richard
top marks for composition
tim hitchins: i will take that for sure
Good frame, I like. Well beautifull perspective.
Good shot, Tim.
tim hitchins: thank you so much Fabrice, happy you thought that
Talk about the Vanishing Point!!!
tim hitchins: ha, i never thought of that
Whata fine Victorian stucture and the image does it proud. Great image. :o) John
tim hitchins: yes John would have liked to see it in better circumstances, good old brit weather , most appreciated m8
Hey Tim! Thanks for the comments!
This is a great shot as well. Love the lines here and the POV.
tim hitchins: thank you kindly Nadine
Like it.
If...I...could....jjust....stay..on...my...chaaaaargh
tim hitchins: lol great comment
What a great angle, and what wonderfully British weather! I like Saltburn a lot.
tim hitchins: cheers m8 and yes it was typical british weather for sure, would like to have given you my opinion on Saltburn but we couldn't see it for the damn mist
I have seen many well thought out angles and this is in the top 5 Tim. How did you come up with this idea? simply wonderful love it well done.
tim hitchins: thank you so much
I also like the way it recedes into mist - wonder how it would look with a thighter crop - just a gate into the mist....but that's me
tim hitchins: hmmmm will try a few crops m8 and see what comes of it and thanks for your valued comment
i think my axe would go well with your Pier
tim hitchins: lol yes i am sure it would make for a grand old bonfire on the beach
Great pic !
I love the light and the mist
tim hitchins: most appreciated John
Good frame, it looks like the pier never ends... Love it!!
Chantal
tim hitchins: cheers Chantal happy you enjoyed it
Very interesting Tim, a good way of getting around having two strong opposing diagonals coming from th top of the shot. I too like the infinty hole in the middle. Striking shot!
tim hitchins: cheers Mike i like the infinity hole too and i like your perspective on the diagonals something that never crossed my mind but will watch out for in the future, cheers
*sigh*...brilliant...it is so great, love the distant look in it...on the island where I am right now, we don't have those piers...I just love this one.
tim hitchins: and i am so happy you do Astrid, enjoy your hols
The tilt is very effective Tim.
Have to agree it just continues on forever. Great shot.
A very different view of this pier. It works just as well in colour. Great shot.
tim hitchins: many thanks jamoula, just think you have to do things a bit different at times doesn't allways work but i feel with this it does
