The Dark One

just a short walk further down the canal from that brightly lit underpass you come to this and yes you can see the bright lights of leeds not to far away, under the railway bridge it was pitch black, we tried to take some photo,s under the bridge but it was impossible, just behind us to the left a lovely new millennium bridge has been erected to some swanky new pads, so they can use this as a short cut to town, lucky them, lol.
Nice one Tim I note you did this in full manual, hwo many time did you take the photo before 15 seconds worked? As a newby I havent use manual setting yet
tim hitchins: hi m8, well really it is just trial and error for me anyway, basically i start with small exposures and build up watching out for blown high lights, i read books, magazines but prefer to learn from my own mistakes as it makes you more determined to get it right the next time
Love the dark and creepy feeling in this one, love the reflection and the light, nice job again Tim
tim hitchins: glad you did Astrid as this was as close to what it looks like as i could muster
Love the look of this Tim
tim hitchins: cheers Aussie, happy you thought that
Very nice, Tim. I love those shards of golden light in the water. (:o)
tim hitchins: ha, it might look nice on this but it sure don't look pretty in reality
Tim this is awesome, great atmosphere, hope no one jumped you when you we out taking your shots
tim hitchins: lol, funny you should say that but as we were walking towards this tunnel we thought we could see someone lurking in the shadows and stood for a while before we relised the 's what it was "a shadow" lol, most appreciated Tracy.
I bet they don't use it as a short cut twice
tim hitchins: lol, love the comment Bill, bet they don't use it at all
Very nice shot Tim. I like the atmosphere!
tim hitchins: cheers Richard glad you thought that as thats what i was hoping for
Like the dark feel in this one - I especially like the reflection of light in the water to the right and on the ceiling
tim hitchins: thanks Aksel, glad you liked the dark feel to it, could have gone with color but it wouldn't have been a true representation of what the scene gave us that night
liking it, melancholy...
tim hitchins: cheers sam, had to look that up and must say thats a fine take on the scene m8
Looks like something from a a 50s gumshoe movie. Great atmosphere.
tim hitchins: thank you so much Martin and have a nice day
There is a haunting mood here - could be the cover art for the next Jack the Ripper movie! Alas, no fear for Tim the Dark Night Photographer will protect anyone in the area! ;-)
tim hitchins: nice to hear from you again Kevin hope you enjoyed your trip
Anotehr very appealing shot, Tim. The low level of light really does give this a spooky feel. I had my first visit to the Leeds city centre for a around 10 years a few months ago and I wa samazed at the transformation of the area.
tim hitchins: cheers Alan, yes i have lived in leeds all my life and over the last 10 years or so it has totally been transformed, shopping is out of my league so is drinking, lol, living too, although i feel they have really gone overboard with all these apartments and a lot of people have had there fingers badly burnt investing in them.
Nice one Tim, watch yourself down by the canal at night M8
tim hitchins: i did have Simon with me
This is the sort of place they always find the body in the cop shows. Very atmospheric.
tim hitchins: thank you m8, really glad you thought that
A very impressive night- photo with different reflection (and reflection of the reflection) Although there are so many golden-warm lights the place seems to be mysterious or conspirative, so that I didn't try to walk along the canal if being alone!
tim hitchins: thanks Philine and no its not the place for women to walk alone on a night or even through the day come to that, most appreciated as always
Quality 15 seconds
tim hitchins: cheers Nigel, like the Q word
I love the mood of this image Tim! Great capture!
tim hitchins: cheers Yvonne really glad you liked it
All on that shot is superb !!!
Light, contrast, PDC, colour ... Very good job, Tim.
tim hitchins: cheers Fabrice and have a nice weekend
This actually feels more cozy than creepy to me, Tim. The lighting is just superb.
very mooody , very good
tim hitchins: cheers Paul, yes thats what i tried to achieve with this one as it really was dark and spooky down there, used some software called Auto fx mystical tint tone and light, find it easy to use
Looks dark and mysterious, I love it!
