The beauty and the beast.
i was disapointed i couldn't quite get a straight down the middle shot i was as far left as i could get right outside the main gates. Was fully expecting security to come out and tell me to clear off as this happened to a fello blogger also from Leeds as it happens. I have read you are surposed to get permission to take photo's from a tripod of these places. Oh the world we live in, the word paranoid springs to mind:)

many many thanks for all the wonderful comments i will reply to all, its just i am so god damn slow at typing lol.
your replies are even slower than your shutter speeds, Pull your finger out dude!.....
Another cool one. mal
tim hitchins: lol i keep trying Mal but its hard with only one finger
love this Tim
tim hitchins: well so happy you do Jide
Breaking the symmetry is a good idea. The image would be too static if you squared it all up perfectly. This way there is a bit of dramatic tension in the composition. I like it!
tim hitchins: well yes i never looked at it that way Martin, cheers for your thoughts on this.
This angle works well for me Tim
tim hitchins: happy it does vintage matey
I really like it as is with the broken symmetry Tim!
tim hitchins: most appreciated Richard
What a cool shot .... plenty of inovation here tim ...
Just use your Yorkshire blarny on these security guys ... they really like people who improve their day. richard
What it's not hand held?? Another nice one Tim
Great stuff Tim - I love this one. They look like sentinels lined up. It's an awful feeling when you feel that any minute someone is going to rush out and challenge you. It happens all the time - people are just really suspicious of a person with a camera and assume you are up to no good. I was challenged by a security guard some time ago in my local shopping centre. 'You can't take photos in here' he said, to which I replied 'and what are you going to do about it?' and marched off! He didn't pursue the matter!
Ingrid
Cracking shot Tim, and I like the angle here. Iknow you need to get permission to use a tripod in cathedrals/ museums but I believe this is more to with a risk of tripping etc, but in this case I don't know, I would like to know where I could find out exactly what rights we have and the legal do's and don'ts are, but where to find this info I don't know. I think we should all challenge these people as Ingrid just mentioned.
tim hitchins: hi mate yes i have read you need to ask some peep inside for permission, same for train stations too, will see if i can find the article. Most appreciated mate
Really like this Tim.
tim hitchins: and i am so glad you did matey
This is a great picture, love the angle, maybe you can hire a typist of 65...to do the job for you
tim hitchins: lol god i would love to Astrid any tips
Wonderful shot Tim in all respects, methinks I will have to get down to Ratcliffe Power Station, just a few miles from me.
tim hitchins: good on you Brian i am sure you would enjoy the walk round one of these places, awesome sight close up, and cheers
nice silhouette here and i like your sky. nice shot.
tim hitchins: cheers Radel m8
Very nice angle here Tim. Looks dramatic well done.
tim hitchins: most appreciated Paul
Nah, this is rubbish mate!
..... Oh alright, actually it's absolutely superb, Tim. A wonderful perspective, so symmetrical, and the silhouette works a treat. I am green with envy, in a nice way... Fabulous
tim hitchins: ha green with envy indeed, most appreciated Paul coming from a accomplished snapper like your self
Great shot Tim. I'm sure a terrorist would love a picture like this. Doubleplusgood
tim hitchins: lol oh i hope not
A another good shot, Tim. Very beautifull line.
tim hitchins: thank you so much Fabrice
Disapointed indeed! This is a wonderful shot. They can indeed be things of beauty
tim hitchins: ha i was but not now lol
Very nice tim - I'm not sure but it could be boring if it was a straight down the middle shot...well I'll stop blabbering...and drink my cognac...I have started my summer vacation
tim hitchins: well have a drink for me m8
With all the photos I have taken of power stations, I have never managed to get one like this. I'm really, really jealous! Well done.
Heh, heh - if you one finger up the nought, you can type with the others
Great picture of the twin rows of towers. Paranoid indeed. I wonder what they would say if you have an easel up and painted a picture. 'Sir, no tripod and brushes allowed'.
Another great picture of one of my favourite class of objects. Just one thing though, Tim. I wish you wouldn't write your blog notes in such big colourful letters. Sometimes they detract from the image - as in this case.
not sure what I like more about this, the geometry of the silo or the smokey sherbert sky? another really fab image
Great image, Tim! And your comment also grabs my attention. I started a group on Facebook to help draw attention - and some potential solutions to the problems of being asked to 'refrain' from taking photographs. There are links to other sites giving advice and legal knowledge about what can and can't be asked of photographers.

lol...the one fingered bandit! this is a really cool shot. empathise about not being able to get right to the middle. Its still amazing though!
tim hitchins: well thank you so much Liam, and yes this one fingered typing is a real bind matey
